Den kritikerroste gitaristen, komponisten Trond Kallevåg Hansen fra Haugesund mottok i fjor Statoil Sildajazz pris og fikk i oppdrag å lage et bestillingsverk for Sildajazz 2018. Kallevåg er bosatt i Oslo og har den siste tiden markert seg som en av de mest spennende gitaristene på den Norske jazz scenen. I 2017 gav han ut sammen med sin trio debutplaten «Se Meg En Annen Dag» med plateslipp på Maijazz. Platen ble kritikerrost i inn og utland, deriblant av det anerkjente britiske musikkmagasinet The Wire som hyllet Haugesunderen, og mente platen var så god at den rettferdiggjorde bruken av norske kulturmidler.
Til bestillingsverket har Trond med seg sin faste trio i tillegg til noen av landets fremste musikere, deriblant norges mest brukte gitarist Geir Sundstøl og kanskje en av landets fremste jazzfiolinister Adrian Løseth Waade. Geir Sundstøl har spilt med musikere og band som A-Ha, Odd Nordståga, delillos, Nils Petter Molvær og Bjørn Eidsvåg, og har medvirket på over 290 plater norske og utenlandske plater.
Musikken er helt ny og Trond har bevisst gått inn for å bruke referanser og inspirasjon fra sin egen oppvekst. Tittelen på verket «Bedehus og Hawaii» referer til de mange somrene han tilbringe hos sine besteforeldre på Bømlo hvor bedehuset og musikken var sentral. Kombinasjonen av Tronds varme fender gitarlyd og hans lyriske komposisjoner skaper en nærmest filmatisk kvalitet. Melodier som kan minne om allsang fra familiære høytider over til stemningsfulle improviserte strekk som musikken til sene bilturer og halv-våkne drømmer fra baksetet.

«Se Meg En Annen Dag» er Trond Kallevåg Hansen Trio sitt debutalbum og slippes på plateselskapet Just For The Records fredag 5. mai. Gitartrioen har turnert rundt om i Norge og Europa og skapt seg en liten men solid fanskare med sin musikk. Trond har komponert all musikken på platen og han har bevisst gått inn for å bruke referanser og inspirasjon fra sin egen oppvekst. Alt fra Angelo Badalamenti sine enkle og sviskete melodier i Twin Peaks til lyrikken fra den ikke fullt så kjente vestnorske eksentrikeren og visemusikeren Kenneth Sivertsen. Kombinasjonen av Tronds varme surferock-inspirerte gitarlyd og hans lyriske komposisjoner tar lytteren med på en vakker og gjenkjennelig musikalsk reise, og fanger lytteren med en nærmest filmatisk kvalitet. Melodier som kan minne om allsang fra familiære høytider over til stemningsfulle improviserte strekk som musikken til sene bilturer og halv-våkne drømmer fra baksetet. Oppveksten er ifølge Trond det sentrale på denne platen og er ifølge han selv sterkt inspirert av vestnorsk visemusikk og hans hjemby Haugesund. Hver sang gjenspeiler en stemning eller opplevelse fra dette området og er selve ideen og den røde tråden gjennom platen.
Trioen bestående av gitar, trommer og kontrabass spiller en type jazz som mange forbinder med gitarister som Bill Frisell, Nels Cline og Jakob Bro for å nevne noen, hvor sistnevnte var hans instrumentallærer under sitt opphold i København. Med seg på laget har han to av de mest lovende musikerne i norsk jazz, Ivar Myrset Asheim på trommer fra blant annet Billy Meyer, og Alexander Hoholm på kontrabass fra band som Past Present og Mothman.
Trond Kallevåg Hansen Trio har allerede rukket å spille på flere større jazzfestivaler i Norge og andre steder i Europa og gjestet blant Vinterjazz i København i 2016. De skal ha releasekonsert på festivalen Maijazz Stavanger 8. mai sammen med gjesteartist Tore Johansen tett oppfulgt av en Norgesturne.

"See Me Another Day" is Trond Kallevåg Hansen Trio's debut album and is due for release on the record label Just For The Records on May 5th. The gitartrio has been touring in Norway and Europe, creating a small but solid fan core. Trond has composed all the music on the record and has deliberately used references and inspirations from his own childhood. Everything from Angelo Badalamenti's simple and cheesy tunes in Twin Peaks to the lyric of the not-so-known West Norwegian eccentric artist and musician Kenneth Sivertsen. The combination of Trond's warm surf-rock-inspired guitar sound and lyrical sense of melody takes the listener on a beautiful and recognizable musical journey, capturing the listener with almost a cinematographic quality. Melodies from holidays and family sing-along tunes to atmospheric and improvised musical landscapes of late driving and half-awake dreams from the back seat. According to Trond, his upbringing and childhood is the key to this record and, according to him, is strongly inspired by folk music from the west coast of Norway and his hometown of Haugesund. Each song reflects a mood or experience from this area and is the very idea and the red thread through the record.
The trio consisting of guitar, drums and double bass plays a kind of jazz that many associate with guitarists like Bill Frisell, Nels Cline and Jakob Bro to name a few, the latter being his instrumental teacher during his stay in Copenhagen. In his band he has two of the most promising musicians in Norwegian jazz, Ivar Myrset Asheim on drums from Billy Meyer, and Alexander Hoholm on double bass from bands like Past Present and Mothman.
Trond Kallevåg Hansen Trio has already played at several major jazz festivals in Norway and elsewhere in Europe and visited Vinterjazz in Copenhagen in 2016. They will have release concert at the Maijazz festival in Stavanger May 8th together with special guest Tore Johansen closely followed by a tour in Norway.

This band, based in Copenhagen Denmark, is a fresh breeze in the music scene of this era. Maximalistica is a vital gathering of five different nationalities coming from the northern regions of Europe. Maximalistica experiments with new playing techniques and fresh ways to improvise. The unconventional instrumentation enables extended dynamics and colorful sound palettes.
A concert with Maximalistica is a journey. On our show free improvisations can escalate into gorgeous mayhem or the most complex a-tonal sound-scape can turn into a catchy Indie rock chorus!

Trond Kallevåg Hansen Solo
Trond Kallevåg Hansen (guitar) began developing his solo concept as a master project at Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. The idea was to interpret the music of Fartein Valen with other musical instruments and parameters inspired by Silence of John Cage and electroacoustic music. Based on that Trond tries on this occasion to combine the aesthetics of cinematic and noise-based audio landscape with minimalist improvised guitar playing.

Trond Kallevåg Hansen (Gitar) begynte å utvikle sitt solokonsept som masterprosjekt på Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium i København. Ideen var å tolke musikken til Fartein Valen og prøve å formidle den med andre musikalske virkemidler og parameter hentet fra Silence av John Cage og elektroakustisk musikk. Med det som utgangspunkt prøver Trond med dette soloprosjektet å kombinere estetikken fra cinematiske og støybaserte lyd-landskap med minimalistisk improvisert gitarspill.
